January 30 Snowing in ShanghaiI just expereinced my 1st snow in Shanghai. Whole of Shanghai was covered with snow, the heaviest snowfall in the last 50 years. It started snowing last Saturday, and the heaviest was last Monday night. The snow fall was too heavy that our shuttle pick-up were scheduled 3 hours later from the original time; allowing me to stay and work from home instead. Thus, I got the chance to play in the snow with my wife.
Though Shanghai will be spared from snow starting today until tomorrow, heavy snow is again expected on Friday. Some trips in and out of Shanghai have been cancelled because of the snowfall, delaying train trips, cancelling flights, impacting thousands of people who are planning to go home to their hometown to celebrate the Spring Festival with their family.

January 23 Train RushAs Spring Festival nears, Shanghai has announced that railway peak period started six days earlier. The peak is expected to run for an extended 46 days. The number of passengers travelling is estimated equal to Brazil's population.
Last weekend we had the taste of this peak travel season. People were lining up for hours and crowding ticket offices to reserve and buy their tickets.
I heard from the news, that the government is planning to open-up the ticket offices 24 hours in response to the increasing number passengers.
For those travelling, be careful and book your tickets soonest.
Below is one of the pictures I took in Suzhou train station, on our way back to Shanghai.
January 09 Pursuing what I think I like to do.Hey, finally I have set-up my blog. This is something I want to do. Something, I think and I feel I like to do. Writing about things I read, I see, and I experience. Things I want to share to the WWW.
My name is Pert. I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Last year, I got married and after two weeks, I tagged along my wife and we moved to Shanghai (something I will write about in the coming weeks).
In this blog, I intend to focus on pictures I have taken and comment on articles I have read. I'll try to review some stores, restaurants, hotels or resort that I will experience along the way.
I plan to write at least 1 blog entry per week. That will give me 50 blogs for 2008. One of the things I need to accomplish in 2008!
Allow me to post my 1st picture.
In the southend of the Longhua Memorial park, you will find this huge statue: This statue and park is in honor and memory of hundreds of martyrs who fought during China's civil wars. For directions and park schedule please visit this link: http://live.shanghaidaily.com/travel/destdetail.asp?id=33
Happy Tuesday!
Thanks for visiting!
